A free woodland adventure for all the family.
As we head towards Midsummer’s Night, we are going to take you on a mysterious adventure through the woodlands of Kinneil. Who knows what you will see, and who you will discover!
The woods will be full of magic. Follow our trail to find out who is living in the trees, flying through the meadows, telling tales by the fire, and travelling through time to be here with us. Performers from Rowanbank Environment Arts will be bringing the stories to life for everyone to enjoy. There will also be marshmallow toasting and a fire performer to help us celebrate this fantastic place.
This event is part of the Inner Forth Landscape Initiative Mini-Festival, with events going on all over the Inner Forth from 19-30 June. All our events are free to attend thanks to the way we are funded by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
We have supported several projects at Kinneil Estate, including consolidating Kinneil Kirk and researching its history; replanting the Estate’s historic orchard; creating a new wildflower meadow; managing the woodlands to make them better for wildlife; improving the paths to make them more accessible; funding a scoping report into the possibility of restoring one of the ponds on the Estate; and creating new interpretation of the area.
No need to book. Suitable for all ages. The trail is mostly on gravel paths, but there are some places where the route crosses areas of grass, so if the weather is wet please wear suitable footwear.
