An introduction to grass and sedge ID

This outdoor session with botanist Ben Averis will take the form of a beginners’ workshop, looking at a range of different species at the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s site at Bo’mains Meadow. We will explore the best methods and principles for examining and identifying grasses and sedges, including the use of keys and appropriate terminology and hopefully gain a better understanding of the role grasses and sedges play within a habitat. Ben is a consultant botanist and author of Plants and Habitats: An Introduction to Common Plants and their Habitats in Britain and Ireland (2013).
