IFLI Walk with Braveheart

IFLI are joining Braveheart for their Monthly walk in October as the group ventures out to Throsk. Stretch your legs and hopefully see seasonal local wildlife & share stories of local history. IFLI Communications Assistant Robert Trevis- Smith who is a keen wildlife photographer, will also be joining us; bring your cameras for some professional photography tips!

Free transport will leave from Camelon Education Centre at 1pm, and Carron Co-op at 1.05pm to start our walk for 1.30pm. We will be returning by 3.30pm. Calling to book your seat on the bus is essential due to limited spaces. Please bring your own refreshments for during/after our walk. IFLI walk with Alzheimer Scotland & Stirling Walking Network

Get some fresh air this Winter with this hour long circular walk by the River Forth in the Riverside and Cambuskenneth area of Stirling. This walk is a partnership between Alzheimer Scotland, Stirling Walking Network and Inner Forth Landscape Initiative. Kate Fuller, IFLI Community Engagement Officer will be attending and walkers existing and new are invited to join the walk. We suggest you arrive 10 minutes before the walk commences to meet the group and walk leaders.

This walk is on level tarmac paths and pavements adjacent to the river around the Riverside and Cambuskenneth area. The walk is generally flat. 

Please ensure you wear sturdy shoes and wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions forecast and time of year.

Inner Forth Meander - Led Cycle Ride

Take your cycle for a spin on this Inner Forth based ride led by the fab folk at Stirling Cycle Hub. Starting at the Hub we will head out to Fallin and back, stopping for tea and coffee on the way. The route is approx 10 miles and level.

When & Where?

Meet before 10.30am at the Stirling Cycle Hub, Stirling Train Station, Goosecroft Road, Stirling, FK8 1PF. The ride will leave at 10.30am and return between 12 and 1pm.

Essential Details

Please bring a safe, roadworthy bike and dress sensibly for the weather forecasted and physical activity - this may include trainers, a windproof and waterproof upper layer, gloves and thin layers of clothing that you can take off/put on depending on how warm or cold you are.

The route is approx 10 miles of mainly quiet roads and paved off road cycle paths. There may be short sections on or near to busy roads..

The ride is likely to go ahead in most weathers.

Whilst we are stopping for tea and coffee you may wish to bring a drink for this 10 mile cycle.

Sustrans have great advice about getting out cycling if you are new to the saddle or returning after a break.

Walk with Braveheart at Bothkennar

Join Braveheart and the Inner Forth Landscape Initiative for a 45-60 minute walk taking in quiet roads and tracks around the RSPB Skinflats Reserve at Haughs of Airth, Falkirk.

Meet from 1.15pm at the 'car park' where the Pine and Oak cafe was (it has now been demolished) off the A876 coming from Clackmannanshire/Fife, taking the first exit after the bridges which is signposted for local traffic. Grid Reference NS 910861. 

The walk starts at 1.30pm. It will take 45-60 minutes and covers 3.7km. The route has a total ascent of 7.54m.

Inner Forth Ride - Led Cycle Ride

Take your cycle for a 30 mile spin on this Inner Forth based ride led by the fab folk at Stirling Cycle Hub. Starting at the Hub in Stirling we use the NCN76 to head in a loop around the Forth. First we head along the southern side fo the Forth, crossing the River at Kincardine where we will stop for refreshments, before we head along the northern side of the Forth back into Stirling. This 30 mile route uses off road cycle paths and quiet roads where possible but there may be short sections on or near to busy roads.

Inner Forth walk at Throsk with RSVP

Head to Kinneil this September for a chance to go Roman In The Orchard!

As part of the annual Big Roman Week - a celebration of the history of Roman across Falkirk and the site of the Antonine Wall - Forth Environment Link are putting on a festival celebrating the recently planted orchard (located on the site of the historical estate orchard), featuring a range of events including juicing, orchard maintenance, and a even gravity challenge for aspiring Issac Newtons.

Taking place on the same day is also one of the regular Kinneil House Open Days, giving the public a chance to explore the history of the house and estate, so it's sure to be an fun-filled day out for everyone.

Walk The Wall: Polmont Woods

Join archaeologist Geoff Bailey and Lesley Sweeney from Falkirk Council Ranger Service for a trek around the Antonine Wall in Polmont Woods. 

Learn interesting facts about the Roman occupation of the area and the Antonine Wall World Heritage Site, as well as finding out more about the bats that live and feed in the area. There will also be the oppurtunity to use a bat detector.

Coastal Tourism on the Inner Forth Workshop

The Forth Estuary Forum has pleasure in inviting you to a free evening workshop on ‘Coastal Tourism on the Inner Forth’.

The evening will start with a buffet followed by a welcome and introduction from Dr. Christopher Cutts, Forum Manager.

Elspeth King, Director, Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum: ‘The Wind-ings of the Forth’;

Richard Millar, Director of Infrastructure, Scottish Canals: ‘Scotland's Canal renaissance through activating the water’.

Following the presentations, there will be an interactive Q&A with the invited speakers and other invited experts. The proceedings will be written up and published on the Forum website and circulated to attendees.
